
Type Design Logo Project
This project challenged us to come up with a company name, target demographic, and wordmark or combination logo that typographically reflects the business and target demographic for specific prompts. Here were my design choices for each prompt.
"The Obvious O"
Design Brief
The client wants an icon placed inside of the counter space of the letter “O,” which can exist anywhere in their name. The icon should relate to the business.

Design Solution
Opal Noir is a luxury apparel brand that is timeless, but is always testing the norms of fashion. Andrew Cody of Cody Opal once said, "There are no boundaries in working with opal. You can look into it and see a beautiful landscape. Each stone has a mystery that encourages curiosity," which inspired the name. "Noir" is black, sleek and elegant, so the pairing works well.
Design Choices
The logo is carefully designed to evoke a sense of luxury and modern sophistication, making it ideal for a high-end fashion brand. The chosen typeface has an extended and thin appearance, contributing to a sleek, contemporary aesthetic while maintaining a luxurious feel. The first “O” is deliberately elongated to resemble the shape of a gemstone, a subtle nod to the brand’s name, and its association with the gemstone itself. To add boldness and balance, the "NOIR" is given increased weight, emphasizing its strength and complementing the elegance of the rest of the design. Inside the counter of the “O”, a 10-point star is integrated as an icon, referencing the opal gemstone, which is the birthstone for October. The “A” has been thoughtfully altered, with a crooked bar that mimics the sharp angles of a gemstone, further reinforcing the brand’s connection to luxury, precision, and craftsmanship.


"Coffee Company"
Design Brief
This business can be anything coffee-related, be it a coffee shop, brand of coffee, or coffee-related product.

Design Solution
Bru Coffeehouse & Espresso Bar is the next new and chic coffee shop. Bru boast new and exciting flavors and also deems itself a great place to congregate and chill.

Design Choices
The typography is playful yet refined, with the word "Bru" prominently displayed in a bold, rounded sans-serif font. The "B" in "Bru" is cleverly stylized to incorporate a coffee cup with steam rising from it, reinforcing the coffee-centric theme of the brand. The warm color palette of browns and tans, reminiscent of coffee and espresso, further emphasizes the connection to the product. The use of soft, rounded letterforms gives the logo a friendly and approachable feel, while the elegant serif typography in "Coffeehouse & Espresso Bar" adds sophistication and balance to the design.
"Toy Company"
Design Brief
This can be a toy store, a toy-maker, or any toy-related business targeting any
demographic.

Design Solution
Pulse is a new video game console that is powerful yet compact to allow for competitive, seamless gaming.

Design Choices
The PULSE logo for the video game console features dynamic, modern typography that conveys energy and cutting-edge technology. The logo includes a circular icon to the left of the word "PULSE," which incorporates a stylized wave or pulse symbol, reinforcing the theme of energy and motion. The word “PULSE” is written in a clean, bold sans-serif typeface, with the letterforms characterized by sharp, geometric lines and smooth curves. The typography is slightly futuristic and streamlined, giving it a high-tech, digital aesthetic. The color palette of blue tones, ranging from dark to light, enhances the modern and tech-forward feel, while also symbolizing trust and stability.


"Tech Company"

This company will change the world. Your client naturally wants to fit in while standing
out amongst the competition.

Design Solution
Pro-tech Innovations is an up and coming cybersecurity firm, working to ensure a company is equipped with the latest cybersecurity software and technology to keep the company's sensitive information safe and "Pro-tech-ted"

Design Choices
The typography is bold, modern, and well-suited for a cybersecurity company. The word “PROTECH” is written in a sleek, sans-serif font, with customized elements such as a yellow keyhole replacing the letter “O,” which directly ties into the cybersecurity theme of protection. Additionally, the “T” in "PROTECH" is split with a horizontal line cutting through it, reinforcing the idea of security and encryption. The color palette enhances the design, with the word "PRO" in light blue and "TECH" in cyan, conveying trust and technology, while the red “Innovations” beneath the main text adds a sense of energy and innovation.
"The Sanctified T"
Design Brief
Your client wants you to include a cross in the place of the letter “t,” because they wish
to be easily identified as a Christian company without appearing cliché.

Design Solution
Eternal is a Faith-based watch company with the focus on creating timepieces that are long-lasting and classic. As God is an eternal God, the watches will never get old with time.
Design Choices
The logo uses a serif typeface that exudes a classic, traditional feel while maintaining a sense of cleanliness and modernity. The increased tracking between the letters creates a refined, spacious appearance, emphasizing the high quality of the brand. The entire word is presented in all caps, lending it a strong, authoritative presence, but the inclusion of a lowercase "t" is a clever design element that draws attention to its unique form. This lowercase "t" doubles as a cross, seamlessly integrating the brand's Christian values into the typography, subtly signaling its faith-based foundation. The logo also incorporates an infinity symbol beneath the word "Eternal," which directly connects to the brand's name, implying timelessness and perpetual commitment. The distinctive addition of a third link in the infinity symbol references the significance of the number 3 in the Bible (often symbolizing the Holy Trinity), further reinforcing the brand's Christian identity.
